Bailey had a great time traveling home last weekend. She gets so excited about going on rides. I worked a half day last Friday and Josh was off. While he was packing the car, Bailey ran and got in the back seat. She didn't want to get out.
This is at a creek we found near our house. We take Bailey there to try to get her more used to water, but she really just wants to drink out of it. It was low on this day.
Training
Bailey has definitely mastered her wave. We usually eat breakfast and dinner in front of the TV, so we make Bailey sit in front of the stairs. For the past few days, when she notices that we're almost done, she'll wave at us. I'm convinced she does it because she knows we're suckers and she knows we'll let her come sit beside us. It's still super cute though. We've been working on some off leash training in the field behind our house. Bailey has done very well with this, but we're going to stop actually taking her off her leash. She tried to chase a cat with Josh the other day, luckily she was on her leash. She just gets so excited and I know she would ignore us. We have plans to take her to a dog park Monday if the rain holds off for us. This will be a great opportunity to practice with her. There are no better distractions than other dogs!
Potty Training
I know I will probably regret saying this, because she will make me eat my words...but, no accidents!
Toys
Bailey's bully stick lasted a week at most and she was only allowed to have it in the evenings after we got home. We'll probably still buy some because she absolutely loves them, but I wouldn't consider them a long lasting chew toy for her. The one be bought from bestbullysticks.com definitely lasted a lot longer than the one we bought at Petco though. Her dear antler is still going strong. We'll definitely buy more of those for her!
Health
Bailey gets spayed next week! I'm a bit nervous for her, but I'll be glad to have it over with. She's just a baby though. I know it's going to be so hard to get her to not play while she heals.
We've been brushing Bailey's teeth since she still had only baby teeth. I wanted her to get used to it. I don't think it's any easier now than when we first got her. She just moves her head from side to side & tries to eat the toothbrush. She will nibble on the bristles very gently. It's actually kind of cute. I've decided that I'm going to get one of the toothbrushes that goes on your finger. I've had to take things out of her mouth several times and she doesn't really care. I think this type of toothbrush will work much better for us :-).

Her wave is TOO cute! We really need to work on teaching Carter new tricks, we've slacked on that :( Shame on us. haha.
ReplyDeleteCarter hates to have his teeth brushed. He has never liked me being in his mouth and I think it's just gotten worse over time. He eats at the tooth brush. I guess I dont have to hold him down anymore so that's an improvement I guess.
Good luck with Bailey getting spayed! I'll be thinking about all of you through the process.Love you.
